Ground broken on £20m 'Cathedral of Whisky'

We are delighted to announce that we have broken ground on phase one of our £20 million ‘cathedral of whisky’, Inverclyde’s first zero-carbon whisky distillery.

Inverkeithing based Muir construction will  deliver the first build phase which is expected to last 12 months and will see the completion of the distillery’s main production elements, including core groundworks, steelwork, and distillation equipment, enabling us to begin producing its own spirit from 2024.

Main contractor appointed for first phase of £20m Inverclyde distillery

Inverclyde’s first zero-carbon whisky distillery, Ardgowan Distillery, has appointed Inverkeithing based Muir Construction to begin the first phase of its £20 million “cathedral of whisky” 

The £7m contract is expected to last 12 months and will see the completion of the distillery’s main production elements, enabling Ardgowan to begin producing its own spirit from 2024.

Gourock firms Bowman Rebecchi and Rebecchi Architectural appointed to develop Ardgowan Distillery gin plans

Gourock-based commercial property specialists, Bowman Rebecchi and Rebecchi Architectural have been formally appointed by the Ardgowan Distillery to help them realise a new custom gin plant at the distillery’s Inverkip site.

Last year, Ardgowan Distillery announced plans for a new bespoke centre for gin distilling – to be built in advance of their whisky distillery – following a loan of up to £5 million from the UK drinks specialists Distil plc.

Ardgowan Distillery unveils landmark building plans

The Ardgowan Distillery has unveiled ambitious new plans for their landmark distillery and visitor centre which will commence construction next year.

The stunning new design uses low environmental impact composite cladding, timber and steel materials to create a light-filled modern Nordic long hall.

The building is designed to provide an ergonomic energy efficient distillery and to maximise the visitor experience and will incorporate a glass-walled ‘sky platform’ with views of the Clyde.

Ardgowan Distillery plans to be carbon negative by 2024

The Ardgowan Distillery – which is about to build a flagship distillery and visitor centre near Inverkip, west of Glasgow – has pledged to be carbon negative in its operations by 2024.

To achieve this they have partnered with global distilling engineering specialists Briggs of Burton (Briggs) with the shared goal to deliver a carbon negative distillery in 2024.

Green light for Ardgowan Distillery following major new investment of £8.4 million

Ardgowan Distillery has announced work will begin this year on their new distillery which is being built on the Ardgowan Estate near Inverkip, 30 miles west of Glasgow.

The company today confirmed a £8.4 million equity investment into the business. £7.2m of the new equity comes from Austrian investor Roland Grain and the balance from new and existing shareholders.
