The Build

Built on the historic Ardgowan Estate, our distillery began production in June 2025 following eight years of development, planning and construction. This major milestone made it the first new distillery to open in Inverclyde for over a century.‎Producing 1 million litres of alcohol per year, Ardgowan represents the newest landmark for whisky enthusiasts to visit: our "Cathedral of Whisky".

The Location

Ardgowan Estate’s natural spring provides pure, sweet water, ideal for whisky production.Situated close to the sea and the warming Gulf Stream, our distillery benefits from a unique maritime environment, which should give our whiskies a distinctive coastal character.
