Chieftain Clan Ardgowan is the highest level of the Clan Ardgowan programme. As a Chieftain, you are supporting our mission to create one of the world’s truly great whiskies, ensuring that our whisky gets all the time that it needs to become great.
There will only be 100 Chieftains in the world and by becoming a Chieftain you will get certain unique benefits that are not available in any other distillery programme anywhere else in Scotland – or indeed anywhere else in the world. It costs £100,000 to become a Chieftain and, as well as getting our very best whisky every year for 100 years for you and your heirs, you will own an Ardgowan Infinity Cask – of which only 100 will ever be made available for sale. You can become a Chieftain yourself or you can buy it as a very special gift for someone.

What you get
Chieftain Clan Ardgowan is a very exclusive group – there will only be 100 Chieftains worldwide. There is no other programme like this in the world. The first significant benefit is that you will get a bottle of Ardgowan Oldest, our oldest, most valuable whisky, every year for the next 100 years for your own enjoyment and for your legacy.
Ardgowan Infinity Cask
The second significant benefit is that you will own an Ardgowan Infinity Cask. The Ardgowan Infinity Cask is specially designed by Ardgowan to allow the whisky to mature for the longest possible time. The Infinity Cask is of the largest size allowed for maturation under the Scotch Whisky Regulations and has a size, toasting and sherry seasoning that is proprietary to Ardgowan Distillery. The Infinity Cask is seasoned with certified Oloroso sherry for 27 months. Only Chieftains of Clan Ardgowan are allowed to own an Ardgowan Infinity Cask and so only 100 of the Ardgowan Infinity Casks will be owned by individuals anywhere in the world.
Forever etched in history
The third significant benefit is that you will become an Ardgowan Distillery insider. Your name will be inscribed on a special plaque and mounted in the distillery visitor centre. You will be entitled to call yourself Chieftain Clan Ardgowan.
Other Benefits
- As a Chieftain you are welcome to visit the Ardgowan Distillery (for free) at any time during construction and operation with up to 10 family or friends – we just ask that you notify us so that we can be ready for your visit.
- You will be invited to dinners, distillery tours and tastings with our Master Whisky Maker, the legendary Max McFarlane.
- You will enjoy access to Ardgowan Distillery special editions exclusive to Chieftains.
- You will get a limited-edition t-shirt and special metallic pin with our compliments.
- You can purchase a Scottish kilt designed by 21st Century Kilts in Edinburgh using the beautiful Ardgowan tartan.
- You can transfer your Chieftainship to another party (once you formally notify Ardgowan Distillery).
- You can leave your Chieftainship to anyone as part of your estate.
