Accessibility Statement

Last updated: 30th July 2025

We offer a very warm welcome to all visitors at Ardgowan Distillery. Whilst we are a newly opened facility and still developing our visitor experience, we aim to provide access information upfront to give all our visitors the confidence to visit our distillery, shop and enjoy the experience.

Please do let us know if you have any specific requirements at the time of your booking, and a member of staff will be in touch.

Arriving at Ardgowan Distillery and Accessible Parking

We have an allocated car park area for all visitors and 2 accessible parking spaces in our main parking area. Accessible parking bays are located nearest the shop with ramp access to the main shop entrance. Wheelchair access is recommended from the back of the shop, where parking is available in our courtyard. Please note that it is a traditional farm building, and the courtyard is cobbled. We also have two electric vehicle charging bays (not yet operational).

The reception/retail space is fully accessible.

Accessible Areas

On arrival, there is a ramp from the car park directing you immediately to our shop entrance. The shop entrance has one step; however, access directly into the shop for wheelchair users is also available at the back of the shop via a slight ramp (please note: the courtyard leading into the back of the shop is cobbled) and then through a double door at ground level.

Unfortunately, at this moment in time, our full distillery tour experience can only be accessed via four flights of stairs, and there are three flights of stairs down on exit. (It is our intention to add a lift facility in the future to make our distillery more accessible for all.)

Access to our lower distillery (the workings below the main stills) and warehouse as part of the tour is on ground level, then we return to our shop, which is on the same level (ground level).

As our tour route is currently not fully accessible, we can offer access to our visitor shop and a visit to our accessible areas, i.e. lower distillery and warehouse. If you would like to contact us to book this and discover our tour time options, please email us directly at [email protected]

Accessible Experience

Our distillery tours last approximately 90 minutes. It is a working distillery and at times may be quite warm.  We aim to offer a good experience for everyone. If you have any concerns or other needs, please get in touch at [email protected], and we will work to accommodate you.

Accessible Toilets

Our toilet facilities are situated at the back of the shop. Whilst we work on the development of new toilet facilities, we currently have porta-loos in place and an accessible porta-loo just outside the shop via the ground level path in the courtyard.

Assistance Animals and Dog Policy

Dogs (except assistance dogs) are not permitted in the distillery or on any tours. Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our shop.

Please ensure your dog is under control and closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times. Dogs must be kept on a short lead and must not be allowed to climb on furniture or touch any items in the shop. We would ask that you understand that some people may have an allergy to your pet and kindly request that you keep a safe distance from other visitors and our team.

We reserve the right to ask you to leave should we have any concerns over your dog’s behaviour or if your dog is disrupting other guests.

Children

Children under 18 years are welcome to the distillery, accompanied by an adult.
